Lebanese PM reups calls to support an immediate ceasefirepublished at 09:25 British Summer Time

Some comments are coming to us now from the Lebanese prime minister, who is calling for international "pressure on Israel" for a ceasefire.

In a statement, Najib Mikati said that his government continues to support the "joint call for a ceasefire" which was launched last week by France and the US with the support of the European Union and Arab countries.

He adds that Lebanon continues to "demand that pressure be exerted on Israel to respect the ceasefire and immediately implement resolution 1701".

Separately, Mikati also welcomes the support expressed recently for Lebanon by French President Emmanuel Macron.
