After sharing a terrifying story about nearly crashing in a helicopter, former President Donald Trump confused two well-known California legislators.

In a convoluted press conference on Thursday that was full of fabrications and misrepresentations, Trump recounted being in the chopper with former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown when it had to make an emergency landing. A query concerning Brown's ties with Vice President Kamala Harris from three decades prior prompted the remarks.

However, according to the former mayor, Brown and Trump have never flown together in a helicopter. Instead, no emergency landing was reported when Trump accompanied former California Governor Jerry Brown on a chopper tour in 2018 to assess wildfire devastation.

Politico revealed on Friday night that Nate Holden, a former state legislator and city councilman from Los Angeles, claimed to have traveled with Trump in a helicopter that nearly crashed on its way to New Jersey.

Holden said to Politico that Willie was the short Black man who lived in San Francisco. "I live in Los Angeles and I'm a tall Black guy."

In this case, it was the most recent apparent instance of Trump disparaging Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris by making up names or anecdotes that don't hold up to inspection.

Trump remarked, "I know Willie Brown very well," in reference to the purported event. "In fact, I went down with him in a helicopter." Perhaps this was the end, we thought.

He continued, saying, "There was an emergency landing while we were on a helicopter heading to a specific area together. This landing was not enjoyable.

Additionally, Brown allegedly told Trump "terrible things" about Harris. "At that point, he wasn't really one of her fans."

However, Brown claimed to have never flown in a helicopter with Trump in an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle.

Brown told the newspaper, "If I had gone down on a helicopter with Trump, you would have known."

The seasoned Democratic lawmaker claimed that he has never made fun of Harris in front of Trump.

Brown responded, "Hell no." "I wouldn't criticize any woman in front of him."

In 2018, Trump went on a helicopter trip with Democratic former governor of California Jerry Brown to inspect the damage caused by wildfires. However, there were no reported flight issues.

Gavin Newsom, the governor at the moment, was also on board. There was no issue with the airplane, no emergency landing, and no discussion about Harris, according to a Democrat's spokesperson, Izzy Gardon, on Friday.

The past romantic relationship between Willie Brown and Harris has come to light after the latter was selected as the Democratic contender for president. In the 1990s, Brown and Harris were romantically involved when he was holding the position of speaker of the California State Assembly. In 1982, Brown and his spouse were divorced.
