The country's Supreme Court refused to postpone the possible prison sentence against former US President Donald Trump until after the November 5 election.

Before the 2016 presidential election, Trump paid bribes to keep his affair with porn star Stormy Daniels a secret and used falsified business documents to cover up the information. A court in New York has accused Trump, the Republican candidate in the next presidential election, of a serious crime in the case filed against him.

The Supreme Court announced the decision on Monday in response to a case in the state of Missouri. The lawsuit claims Trump is running for the White House as the Republican presidential nominee. In such a situation, the case against him will be heard as a violation of the rights of voters according to the United States Constitution.

Two conservative Supreme Court justices, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, indicated they would hear the Missouri case.

The court indicted Trump last May in the case of paying bribes to porn stars and providing false information in business documents. Counsel said the bribe was paid by Trump to speed up the 2016 election campaign.

However, Trump, the Republican candidate in this year's election, denied having physical relations with Stormi. He is scheduled to be sentenced in the related case in September. Trump will appeal his impeachment.
